Deliberate misrepresentation of who they are and what they do. web.com?
Deliberate misrepresentation of who they are and what they do. web.com?
9/2017 I got a call from web.com representatives linking me to a presentation screen saying web.com and pushing their services as a billion dollar web company to help with online advertising. I asked them how they would address specific challenges and their response was 'if we dole you that then you wouldn't need to hire us. We are a billion dollar know it all online marketing company. So we know....' Frankly they lied to me outright.
So after getting my credit card number and charging it, an email came thanking me for joining Yodel. Yodel was never mentioned during the presentation. Of course! Because their reputation is ***!
Replied back cancelling and they won't cancel. Today I noticed that they put a google ad directly over mine to divert business away from my ad. When one caller came through their ad they sent a congratulations email and i replied back with cancel. Looking online i googled my keywords and found a fake website with my companies name on it and a fake diversion phone number.
These people are just plain criminals. BTW the google ad is exactly the same as what we have already.
So the misrepresentation that they could do better was an outright lie also. However the main problem is that I checked out web.com while talking to them and of course this lie about who they are covered their tracks.

Web.com, they are not designers
I paid $999.95 for a website design. All I received was a cut and paste from my old website.
They used a template. I paid for design because I'm not a designer. As it turned I had to become the designer and could not do so. That's why I paid them to do the design.
I also could never speak with the right person. I seams they have too many layers of communication. By the time your communication gets to the right person most of the communication is lost. As a result I asked for my money back and they said they do not reimburse for their services.
Now I'm in the middle of a dispute. Good luck to anyone using web.com

Don't Risk Your Business!
Please read this before you risk your business by using Web.com. Right now, I have a pretty website that is completely non-functional, can't receive any email messages, and the site is intermittently down for periods of 3-25 minutes, round the clock.
Keep reading for the details if you're not convinced. I opened a new business with Web.com in October and I've spent more time trying to resolve issues with them than doing anything else. I use Jetpack to track system down time and it's been up and down like a roller-coaster between 25-3 minutes at a clip. The techs tell me that some issues are "known" (great- they knew, but no one told me my business was down!).
Worse-- access to the back end of my site shut down over the weekend and my business email address was wiped from the system. It's been a day now on an email-driven business with NO ACCESS TO EMAIL at all. My customers are receiving a "Relaying Denied" error message. Best part?
If you try to use their very own online support ticket system, you can't. It hasn't worked in two weeks- What does that say about the company? Week 1 - you couldn't pick an issue from the dropdown list, week 2 (presently) the pick list item highlights but you can't select it. When I finally got a rep on the phone (it's no 12:14 on day three of the epic tragedy of finding out what's wrong with my website) and they claim someone called and told them "I couldn't afford email." The entire package is $30 a month, so I don't know how that's possible.
And who called to leave this mysterious message? No one seems to know. Here's where the final warning comes in- if you are on the phone with them, don't let them say they'll work on the issue and resolve it off-line. I'm pretty sure that's how the above happened.
As soon as you hang up, your issue is not the priority - and if they're distracted - your business will suffer. If you don't want to seem like an inept business owner or lose business during downtimes, run from web.com. Tip for consumers: If you feel you must go with this company, don't bother buying a domain through them. It's more expensive and they do a terrible job of managing multiple domains that you connect through their web manager.
Mistakes they make on one domain name may impact others. If you do go with them, keep it simple.
If you build your own site, use WordPress or have complicated setups, this is going to be a very unstable option for you. Finally, if you have an issue, stay on the phone until it is resolved.
- Instability of hosting
- Inability of customer support to resolve issues
- Not communicating known host issues that cause service denials

I can tell you, from the inside, they do not care about their customers at all. They will build you a "website" and they DO charge you as soon as you give them your credit card number.
They lie, even on their television commercials, by saying they will build you a site for free. This is false, they charge your credit card without you seeing it and without your approval. When you call for support, you are speaking to a kid, 18-23 years old, who is reading from a script. Even if you are not familiar with site building, you're better off using wix, weebly, or any of the other free site building services.
They encourage their reps to lie, just to get them off the phone.
As far as pricing, it used to be $99.99/mnh, it has increased a few times over the years to $149.99, without ANY improvements. Their SEO/marketing DOES NOT WORK!!

HOLDING CUSTOMERS HOSTAGE THAT NO LONGER WANT THEIR SERVICES
This company is the worst provider possible and holds clients hostage to their products and services. It must be ILLEGAL to do this.
As a web design professional my experience with multiple clients has been that they consistently: • Will not allow website products to be cancelled • Will not allow domain names to point away from their servers to other hosting providers • Will not allow you to transfer domains even after all of the ICANN required steps have been done. THEY ARE HOLDING CUSTOMERS HOSTAGE THAT NO LONGER WANT THEIR SERVICES You stay on hold for hours at a time, finally get advisers that continually place you on hold, complete the required steps, have ticket numbers and all settings default to what they were previously--LOCKED TO THEIR SERVERS IN THEIR ACCOUNTS.
- Holding customers hostage that no longer want their services
- Refusal to cancel my account
Bad experience
Web.com will lie to you from the initial sales call and throughout the life of your account with them. Their sales people tell you, you want be charged until you approve the website.
The truth is, as soon as you give them your credit card number, your account is charged right away. Now, on to the dated website you'll get. Nobody is ever happy with the first draft, and most want to cancel. Did you know, their sites used to be $99.95/mnth?
Every since they had a security breach, in which thousands of credit card numbers where compromised, they now have passed along their revenue loss to you, the customer. You now will pay $144.95/mnth. As for the marketing they do for your site, now called Ignite, used to be called Gorilla, it does NOTHING at all. Soo bad, they had to change the name.
I have been with the company for years, in different departments, and its the same, company wide, they want you to lie to the customers, and nothing will ever get resolved. They also include and S.E.O.
consultation each month, well youre not talking to an actual SEO person, youre talking to a modification agent who is reading from a script. And lastly, everyone in the company has access to your credit card number, and they do not do any background check...does this make you feel comfortable? Youre better off hiring someone local to build you a wordpress site, saves time, mony, and headaches

Make sure you steer clear of this company!
I failed for their ad golf channel featuring Jim Furyk(I'm a fan of Jim) and wife to create a custom web site. My nightmare began.
I only agreed to $1600 to start project and $1600 upon completion. I was charged $3200, then I was charged $175 a month for only god knows what they did for me. After that, getting the sales person to respond to an email was like pulling teeth.
My "dedicated web designer" disappeared! I was left in the dark, web site unfinished.
I had paid my price, you don't have to. Don't do business with web.com.
- Stay away from this company

Stole my money. Lied from day one.
Extended cancellation period and refused to honor agreement. Very dishonest and very inept group of middle easterners, stealing your personal banking info and screwing up your security.

NetSol arbitrarily SUSPENDS domains without warning!!!
Network Solutions (a Web.com company) has surreptitiously installed ransomware on customer domains. Called SiteLock, it's purpose is to check for innocuous site updates that they determine to be outdated or requiring attention. The problem, if your site is not updated very often then NetSol, without ANY warning, will suspend your domain. They will not call you. They will not email you any warning. They will just arbitrarily decide to shut your web business down to protect the 'greater good'. Hence they have installed SiteLock as a type of Rasnomware to force domains to spend money to upgrade - of course, offering their for-pay services to help first.
Upon complaining, they will then send you a barrage of generic emails stating their policy after-the-fact. In the meantime, you will have to FTP directly into the server and remove all offending site code and then jump through hoops to get the site turned back on. This can take days. The real PITA is that they DO NOT tell you which code, which plug in or which page is causing the offense. You have to just guess. As a systems developer for +25 years I am aghast at NetSol's business practice. While I understand the rationale and need for monthly site maintenance and updates, the sheer irrational volume of "updated versions", whether in the CMS, plug-ins or add-ons, can be a daunting task and often without any real purpose or merit other than to open up new avenues for solicitation and re-marketing.
With other hosts, updates/upgrades are carried out on a quarterly basis. With NetSol (web.com), if you don't stay up-to-date each month, you risk having your site turned off without warning. As a client of NetSol for over 20 years I can no longer endorse them as a host. With their high domain fees and other subversive sales tactics I can not recommend them as a registrar either. It is a shame that once they were bought out by Web.com, their company and corporate policies went to ***.

Webcom - Scammers Review from Oshkosh, Wisconsin
Web.com is a scam they will literally steal your money. If you cancel they continue to charge.
You will have to cancel your credit card to get them to stop. Horrible people.
Can no longer recommend Web.com as a viable or reliable host provider.
I have a Ph.D. in computer science and have utilized Web.com services for approximately the last 10 years.
Initially I recommended their services to others and found their help line responsive to any issues that arose. During the past several years, however, the support staff either blamed (1) my local Internet provider or (2) my coding for Server Time-Out errors and unresolved domain issues when the website was keyed in at the browser. Also, without any notice from Web.com, all of a sudden my security certificate became invalid. It took approximately 1 month to port the software to a new platform that supported a new security certificate.
I rate the online help as generally incompetent and quick to always (and 99.99% incorrectly) attempt to blame my software which has undergone little change in the past years.
It seems their growth has resulted in poor quality service and there is a fundamental problem with overloading of their servers. I can no longer recommend Web.com as a viable or reliable company.

Very bad website builders
They will tell you everything you want to hear and when they build your website it is nothing close to what they promised you. They will mix up all the info's.
The worst part is if you reject what they build you cannot go back to your old one because they will delete it. And there is no way they can bring it back. The website they built for me looked so generic. Like a really lazy programer did it and don't care design.
All they need is copy the content of the old one and transfer it to the one they are building. Now my website is down and I lose business. They deleted my email too. I have customers there waiting for me to breed my top imports.
That is gone too. I WISH I LOOKED AT THIS COMPLAINTS. I have my guards down because web.com have my domain for 2 yrs now. I really thought they are reputable not even close.
Now I have to pay another person to build me another website and spend time to put my input in it.
There is no one policing them too. All they can tell me is sorry.

Verified ReviewerStill billing me after cancelling a year and a half ago
Web.com owes me a refund of over $1200 and has yet to respond to my claim! I was playing around with a few different sites online and saw that web.com had a site for $3.12.
I set up a couple in order to try out a few different option and then forgot I had even set it up until a few months later when I saw 3 different charges for $35 for the previous 3 months. I called immediately and told them that I needed a refund and to cancel my account. Apparently they only cancelled 1 and left the other two going. I had set this up with my savings account, which I never look at and now see that they've been billing me for the past year and a half!!!!
I called multiple times and keep getting the run around.... I will be going on all media sites and express my concerns until my accounts are refunded in FULL!!!!
- Refusal to cancel my account
- Failure to honor request to cancel when trial ended
- Deceptive business practices
Preferred solution: Full refund
